Very Rare Dual quad engine 1957 Chevrolet Belair Convertible! Frame off restored this beautiful car was finished from the factory in Matador Red (802), the car was reportedly repainted under previous ownership. Exterior details include a power-operated white convertible top with a zip-down rear window as well as a Continental spare tire kit, bright trim, gold-finished Bel Air badges, hooded headlights, twin wind splits, styled tailfins, and rear fender skirts. Red 14” wheels wear spinner-style full covers and are mounted with Goodyear wide-whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by drums at all four corners. A brake system service in January 2023 included replacing the front wheel cylinders and rebuilding the front brake spindles and drums. The front wheel bearings were adjusted at this time, and the power steering control valve was replaced.The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in red vinyl with silver inserts as well as color-coordinated door panels and black carpeting. Bright trim accents a red-painted metal dashboard, and additional appointments include a clock, a locking glovebox, and a push-button AM radio.The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 276 miles, approximately 150 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 283ci V8 features dual four-barrel carburetors as well as “batwing” air cleaners and a dual exhaust system. Work at Classic Performance Restorations of Gilbert, Arizona, in preparation for the sale included rebuilding the carburetors, resealing the engine, and replacing the water pump, radiator, and fluids. Invoices for work reportedly performed since December 2022 totaling approximately $17k.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission was serviced with replacement fluid and seals in January 2023. The engine stamping shown in the gallery bears the suffix stamp EB, indicating a 283ci V8 equipped with dual four-barrel carburetors and a high-lift camshaft.
